Anthony Blackman - Driven to give and an advocate for tennis within NC and beyond!
Anthony Blackman, founder of Cary, N.C.-based Atlantic Tire & Service and primary sponsor of the Atlantic Tire Championship Challenger Series in Cary, NC, succeeded in business and life! Anyone who had the opportunity to interact with Anthony for any period of time experienced first-hand why he received the 2023 Cary Citizen of the Year, the city's Hometown Spirit Award and in 2021 the Order of the Long Leaf Pine. The culmination of both awards reflect the significant contributions Anthony has made to the state and his community through exemplary service and exceptional accomplishments. Although there were other awards, recognition was never what Anthony sought or pursued. What was most important to him was family, friends, community, and making sure that his Atlantic Tire & Service employees had every opportunity to also succeed in business and life.
Following Anthony's untimely passing September 15, 2023, friends and colleagues reached out to the NC Tennis Foundation to name an endowment that would represent the gentleman, philanthropist, and servant leader that they loved and adored. The purpose of the endowment is to award outstanding and exceptional high school seniors who have made a difference in their tennis communities, both on and off court. What better way to honor Anthony's legacy and contributions to this world than to create a fund to support youth pursuing higher education and who desire to follow in Anthony's footsteps and make a difference for good? We invite you to join us and invest in cultivating and developing future leaders with big hearts, like Anthony!
